{latin} On Friday, March 13, students at both East Aurora Middle School and East Aurora High School participated in the National Latin Exam, and thirteen students won awards in recognition of their top performance in this competition.
In the "Introduction to Latin Exam" Grace Anderson, Carl Davidson, and Penn Watson each received a certificate of achievement.
In the High School Latin I Exam, eighth graders Andrew Lazickas and Paige Ronan each received "cum laude" certificates, and Edward Crow, Daniel Leman, Mary Zittel and Chase Szafnicki received "maxima cum laude" certificates with a silver medal.
On the High School Latin II Exam, Freshman Tyler Ljungberg, Sophomore Caitlin McGee, and Freshman Jacob Vasbinder each were awarded "cum laude" certificates, and Freshman Kendal Clarke was awarded a "maxima cum laude" certificate with a silver medal.
Latin teacher Brian Serwicki extended congratulations to his diligent scholars.
The National Latin Exam is offered under the joint sponsorship of' the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. It is a 45-minute classroom exam administered to approximately 150,00 students in thirteen countries during the second week of March. |
